Vertigo Assessment
Frequently Asked Questions
We start with a detailed health history and symptom review, then perform balance tests like videonystagmography (VNG) to track eye movements, posturography to assess sway, and positional maneuvers (e.g., Dix–Hallpike) to pinpoint inner-ear issues. The entire process takes about 60–90 minutes, and we explain each step so you feel comfortable and informed
No fasting is required, but please avoid heavy meals immediately beforehand, and let us know about any vestibular-suppressant medications (like meclizine) you’re taking—they can affect test accuracy. We’ll advice you if a brief medication pause is needed, in collaboration with your prescribing doctor.
Tests are non-invasive and generally well-tolerated. Some maneuvers can provoke dizziness, but we perform them under careful monitoring in a safe environment. If you feel too dizzy, we pause or modify the test. Our priority is your comfort and safety.
We review raw data immediately after testing and interpret findings within 24 hours. You’ll receive a clear report explaining whether your vertigo stems from benign positional vertigo, vestibular neuritis, Menière’s disease, or another cause—along with personalized next-step recommendations.
We offer in-office vestibular rehabilitation—customized exercises to improve balance and reduce dizziness symptoms. For conditions requiring medical or surgical management (like Menière’s), we coordinate referrals to trusted ENT or neurologist partners, ensuring seamless, multidisciplinary care.
Most people benefit from 10-12 weekly sessions of vestibular exercises, with daily home practice. Later, we transition you to a maintenance program—periodic check-ins to tweak exercises and ensure lasting balance control.
