In 2001 Neonatal Infant Screening program was initiated at Sir Gangaram Hospital following EHID 1-3-6 guidelines guidelines which includes:
- Hearing screening completion by 1 month of age
- Diagnosis of any hearing loss by 3 months of age, hearing aid selection and fitting within 1 month of confirmation of hearing loss(if parents choose that option),and
- Entry into early intervention services by 6 months of age.
This facilitated early implantation at very young age hence getting optimal benefit from latest technology. Youngest recipient of our clinic was 8months old baby, now is grown up confident child doing well in his life.
